Motifs & Patterns

Jangla: heavy, dense floral & creeper patterns.

Tanchoi: elaborate patterns with no zari but extra weft silk threads.

Shikargah: intricate animal/hunting scene designs.

Weaving Technique

Slight irregularities (a sign of handwork) Float threads at the back (not cut off entirely) Often a fine mesh on the reverse side from the supplementary weft technique (especially in brocade styles).

Pallu & Border

The pallu (anchal) is typically heavily woven with intricate designs Borders are often wide, rich, and contrast with the body Look for matching motifs on pallu and borders – it reflects the handloom origin.

Test the Zari (optional)
